Is this a good idea/investment?

If he is something that you would want to own, possibly forever, and you can make the time then get him. A quality horse is never a bad investment. If you want to get him turned around to make a quick buck, then consider the saying that "anyone that says they made a small fortune in horses, started with a large fortune." If you buy him, he could break a leg and flush your investment in a split second. Grim, but something to consider. Also, do you really want a stallion? If he is approval quality, then his owner has a responsibility to make him available to mares and promote him. And if you do want a stallion, he may not ultimately make the cut for approval.
