1969 dodge charger homemade coldair intake?

I'm wondering if replacing the stock filter embly on my 383 with a length of sealed tubing that fits over the carburetor and running it to the front of my charger to inhale all that cold air (with high flow filter) instead of sucking all that heat from under the hood would be worth it? dont post unless you actually know what your talking about please, this is a v8 big block so no ricers with 4-cylinders and a c.a.i should respond about the benefits they experienced.
