Ironicvey: Why is it that as soon as vampires got lamer, that they got more popular?

I know, Stefanie Meyer ruined the good(bad?) image of vampires! I love Dracula, the many versions of him. Anne Rice's vampire chronicles are my favorite vampires though. These are bad, lustful, vampires, but at the same time still show signs of humanity. Buffy and Angel were probably the last good incarnations of vampires. I haven't seen too many old vampire movies, but I'll admit I was pretty turned on by Gary Oldmans performance of Dracula. And I have NO attraction to Edward! I like my vamps a little dangerous, lol. It's all gone downhill with Twilight. It's too bad these tweens don't know what they're missing. I hope once this pes over, someone will revive what vampires used to be.
