Donations, Charity, Where do I go?

Ok, my mother has severe spine and back injuries. She is consistantely loosing functioning in all parts of her body. Doctors have said if she does not recieve the surgery she needs within 3 months, we can expect her spinal cord to sever, causing death. My mother has me, 21, a two year old son, and an 8 month old grandson. Her life is just starting. We have found an institute to do the surgery that she needs, only problem is its over 50grand and we only have state insurance, which SURPRISE wont cover the cost. So my question is, how do we get the money? Are there charitable resources, how do you go about setting up a donation foundation, etc?? ANYWAY POSSIBLE, i mean anything anyone can think of please!
