Black people not finding black people attractive?

It's engrained in their mind from a young age due to the media saying that dark is ugly light is in. Every rapper or celebrity they grew up listening to featured light skinned women in their videos. Its because during slavery, the lighter you were the greater chance you had at freedom. Now that slavery has gone, the mentality has still remained, and ped from generation to generation. Now not every college educated, prosperous black man goes for the blonde bimbo. Most black professionals that I know are with black women of various shades, who are just as educated if not even more educated than them. It is usually the less educated, ignorant athletes, or rappers, or thugs that I see with "the light skinned, or white women". Although I am fully black(my family immigrated from Africa), many guys think its a compliment when they say "you're pretty for a black girl" or "your hair is long, you sure you are not mixed?" or "you dont have the typical 'black' features". Its really hurtful because they are not only putting down their own race, but they fail to see the beauty in it because it has been frowned upon for so long, and I hate being part of their fixture. Black is beautiful, just like anyone else.
